Description
The Solicitation will be posted on or about April 22, 2009 The following is a description of the packing materials. GENERAL The Contractor shall furnish packing to be used on power generating turbines and generators at McNary Lock and Dam. All packing shall be delivered to McNary Dam. PACKING REQUIREMENTS The inch packing shall be delivered packaged on spools. Each spool shall have at least 30 ft of packing. The 1 inch packing shall be delivered packaged on spools. Each spool shall contain 14 ft of packing or a multiple of 14, with a maximum quantity of 56 ft per spool. The packing shall be Garlock packing style 8922 Synthepak, or approved equal. The packing shall have a temperature range of at least -150 deg F to 500 deg F. The packing shall have a max pressure of at least 500 psi. The packing shall be completely impregnated with PTFE. The packing shall be rated for a shaft speed of no less than 2,000 feet per minute. PACKING LUBRICATION The packing lubrication shall be Garlock Start-Up Run-In-Lubricant part number 49001-2671, or approved equal. The lubricant shall come in 16 oz containers. WARRANTY The packing shall be covered by the Industry Standard Commercial Warranty. SUBMITTALS Prior to award of an approved equal, submittals shall be approved by the McNary Lock and Dam. SHIPMENT AND DELIVERY All items shall be delivered FOB to McNary Lock and Dam within 2 weeks of contract award. The contractor shall be responsible for packing and shipping the components in a manner that will ensure undamaged and complete arrival to McNary Lock and Dam. Shipments are only allowed during normal business hours of Monday Thursday 7:00am to 3:30pm, except for federal holidays. All shipments shall be delivered to: McNary Lock and Dam 82790 Devore Rd.
