- Description
- This contract is using the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) method, also known as the Construction Manager at Risk method for preconstruction services and optional construction services to construct the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway West Closure Complex (GIWW WCC). This project will be located on the west bank of the Mississippi River near New Orleans, Louisiana in the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway just west of the Algiers and Harvey canals. This project will function as a major component of the Greater New Orleans Hurricane Storm Damage Risk Reduction System (HSDRRS). This award is for the preconstruction phase services which includes but is not limited to technical design input, construction sequencing, constructability reviews, reviews of design documents, and scheduling and pricing input: All with the emphasis on achieving the intermediate goal of surge barrier completion by June 2011. This contract awards the preconstruction phase services as the base bid using the ECI method. The construction phase will be an option for exercise under the contract.
