Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, will host Datum Workshops 21-22 April, 2009 at the District Office in Jacksonville, Florida. An identical two-hour overview workshop will be held each day from 0900-1100 for Project Managers, Planners, Contracting Officers, Counsel, Project Engineers, Technical Leads, and their Supervisors who are involved with the overall planning and execution of civil works projects. A three hour workshop will be held from 1230-1530 on 21 April 2009 for technical personnel engaged in surveying and mapping of civil works projects. Those attending the three hour workshop need to attend the two hour overview workshop first. These workshops will address questions related to the importance and applicability of different datums, why datums get superseded, the reasons behind epochs and adjustments, and USACE policy with regard to project datums. Representatives from local government agencies, small businesses, chambers of commerce, community organizations, large contracting organizations, and others are invited. Space for non-Corps personnel is limited and attendance will be based on the order in which requests are received. Attendance is strictly for educational purposes. There is no fee for attending the workshops. Any expenses incurred are solely the responsibility of the attendee. No special consideration will be granted to AE firms in any selection process based on attendance in these workshops. To request a reservation for attendance or for additional information contact David Robar PE, Chief, Geomatics Section via email at David.J.Robar@usace.army.mil.
