Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC)-Iowa City, is soliciting and intends to award a firm fixed price contract for Architecture/Engineering services, "(Recovery Act) A/E to Update/Renovate Interior Finishes Building 1, Phase 1" at the VAMC in Iowa City, IA. NAICS Code 541310, size standard $4.5 million. The A/E scope of work for this project shall include but not be limited to the design services for interior finishes, signage and lighting of approximately 17,700 GSF of existing corridors on two floors of building 1. The Architect-Engineer contract will include investigative services, contract documents with reviews, estimating, reproduction of bid documents, construction period services, final inspections, and as-built drawings. The design will require evaluation of the existing flooring, wall coverings, ceiling finishes, handrails, signage and lighting to meet current hospital design philosophy. The VA Interior Designer will assist with the color coordination and selection process. Green and low maintenance products are encouraged. Construction will require phasing to ensure corridors are accessible during construction. Asbestos abatement of floor tile and mastic will be required. Thus a CIH must be a member of the design team. Preparation of asbestos abatement contract documents, estimates, sampling and air monitoring during abatement will be included in services in this contract. Phasing will be required to maintain access to occupied areas. SUBJECT TO THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS. Estimated construction cost range is between $250,000 to $500,000. Area of consideration: Firms must be within 125 miles radius, of the VAMC-Iowa City, IA. Please, submit your qualifications and past performance data on SF 330 (architecture-engineer qualifications); and for any consultants, to be used, on SF 330 sections E and F.
