Description
The Department of Energy - Legacy Management is sponsoring a biological sampling program and site inspection on Amchitka Island, Alaska in the Summer of 2011. Biological samples will be collected from nearshore and offshore requiring the need for dive teams. All scuba diving will be conducted at no-decompression depths and will generally not exceed 75 feet. All diving will adhere to standards established by the American Academy of Underwater Sciences. The site inspections will be conducted at 7 locations on the island concurrent to the biological sampling work. It is estimated that as many as 20 scientist, divers, technicians and logistical support personnel will be required to perform the necessary activities of these tasks. To support these tasks, a ship will be required to transport personnel and equipment to Amchitka Island and remain there providing daily logistical support (berthing, meals, space for preparing biological specimens, freezer space, etc). Constantine harbor, located on the southeast side of Amchitka Island, has a 1970s built steel piling-concrete-decked structure, ""T" shaped, with a 70-foot stem and a 150-foot arm. Additional logistical support while conducting on-island inspections will require off-road "gator"-type vehicles. It should be noted where the homeport of the ship is. The majority of the personnel supporting these tasks for the DOE-LM will be picked up and dropped off at Adak Island, Alaska. As the DOEl-LM support contractor, S.M. Stoller is seeking potential subcontractors to provide shipboard logistical support for the 2011 tasks. Interested parties capable of providing fully equipped and qualified shipboard transportation and logistical support (estimate 20 people for three weeks) are asked to send a Statement of Qualification providing relative information as to how the subcontractor can support Stoller with these services and support.
