- Description
- The Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division (NSWCCD)intends to negotiate a sole-source procurement with Superconductor Technologies, Inc (STI) of Santa Barbara, CA. The contractor, STI, has prior expertise in the development of superconducting coatings for the Naval "Free Electron Laser Radio Frequency (RF)Cavities" for use shipboard. STI has developed a thin-film deposition method for superconductor coatings of which STI is the sole developer and patent holder. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit with only one source using Simplified Acquisition procedures. A firm fixed-price purchase order is anticipated. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. A determination by the Government not to compete with this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
