- The James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona, Pennsylvania intends to release a firm fixed price Request for Proposal (RFP) for full time equivalent (FTE) Medical Officer of the Day (MOD) physician services. Services will be inclusive of the provision of physicians to staff the medical center's Level III emergency room during off tour hours, weekends, and federal holidays and physicians to cover inpatient rounds on the medical center's ICU, Telemetry, and Acute Care Wards between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on weekends and federal holidays. All services shall be performed at the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, 2907 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, Pennsylvania. Physicians performing the required services must hold a full and unrestricted license in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United State or District of Columbia and be Board Certified. Physicians will be credentialed utilizing VA's VetPro in accordance with VHA Directive 2006-067 and in accordance with VA Directive 1663 and VHA Handbook 1100.19. All contract employees performing services on site at the Altoona VAMC or those with access to protected health information will be required to undergo the Personal Identification Verification process and complete to a background investigation. The NAICS code for this procurement is 621111 which has a small business size standard of $10 million. It is anticipated that the RFP will be issued as a 100% small business set aside. The anticipated solicitation issue date is Tuesday, April 14, 2009 and will be available online at www.fbo.gov. The proposal due date will be Thursday, May 14, 2009 and questions from offerors regarding the solicitation and requirement will be due to the contracting officer no later than close of business on Friday, May 1, 2009.
