Description
Sandia National Labs seeks participation in the second meeting on fault-tolerant spaceborne computing using new technologies to take place from May 26-29, 2009 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The workshop's vision will be next generation spaceborne computing employing hardened versions new technologies being introduced by the commercial sector, such as multi-core, accelerators, FPGA, nano memories, and interconnect. In the near future, an engineer will be able to give a mission much more on-board compute capability by deploying a mixture of emerging power-efficient components. The components will be compatible with each other due to choices and system architectural standards developed by this workshop and subsequent activities. The workshop will also discuss the adaptation of parallel, heterogeneous software tools from the commercial sector to the envisioned space hardware. The implications of evolving microelectronic technology on the physical processes of radiation hardening will be a key topic as well. Overall, the goals of the workshop will be to benchmark the current state of the art and technology roadmaps, and assess projected future needs and gaps. Due to space limitations, attendees must obtain an invitation before attending. Qualified attendees may obtain an invitation and more information from Erik DeBenedictis, (505) 284-4017 or erikdebenedictis@sandia.gov
