- The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, VISN 6 Centralized Acquisition Service, intends to negotiate Sole Source procurement with Baxter Healthcare for inpatient and outpatient hemodialysis supplies for patients serviced by the VA Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. This proposed contract action is for the peritoneal dialysis fluid, Icodextrin, as well as other fluids, kidneys, and supplies for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with one source under the authority of FAR 603.2. The VA believes that Baxter Healthcare is the only company that can provide Icodextrin. Contract award will be made on all or none basis in order to maintain consistency for both home and inpatient use. This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive quotes. No solicitation document is available and telephone requests will not be accepted. However, any firm that believes it can meet these requirements may give written notification to the Contracting Officer within seven (7) days from the date of publication of this announcement. Supporting evidence must be in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to comply with the requirements for Icodextrin. Information may be sent to the Contracting Officer, Pat Easter, 201 Hay Street, Suite 304, Fayetteville, NC 28301. Responses received will be evaluated however; a determination by the Government to compete the proposed procurement based on the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no responses are received, the VA Medical Center will proceed with the Sole Source negotiation with Baxter Healthcare.
