- Description
- The National Data Buoy Center intends to negotiate only with Paroscientific Inc., Of Redmond, WA for 3 each Paroscientific transducers, Model 410K-101, Part Number 1223-001-0. NDBC uses the transducers on the bottom pressure sensor suite of equipment which includes the third DART acoustic modem/CPU assembly. It sits on the ocean floor and sends pressure data back to the electronics data acquisition units on the buoy via acoustic modems, and changes in the pressure data is the first sign of an approaching tsunami. No other known sensor meets the design requirements and Paroscientific is the only vendor who can supply these subassemblies because they are proprietary to the company.
