Description
This is the synopsis - This is the second of two planned announcements for this acquisition. The Federal Bureau of Prisons, Field Acquisition Office, located at Kansas City, Kansas intends to issue a solicitation with a requirement to upgrade the fire sprinkler system and fire alarm system at a Federal Prison, known as the United States Penitentiary (USP), located at Marion, Illinois. The magnitude of construction is between $500,000 and $1,000,000. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS 2007) code applicable to this notice is 238220, with a size standard of $14.0 million. This solicitation is 100% set-aside for small business. Bid, performance and payment-bonds will be required. The government intends to issue this solicitation and any amendments through the FedBizOpps.gov website. All bidders/offerors are required to check this website daily to be notified of any changes to this solicitation. Posting of the solicitation is projected to be on or about April 20, 2009, with a projected bid due-date of May 20, 2009. These dates are subject to change. Security investigations and subsequent clearances issued by the Federal Bureau of Prisons will be required for all staff who perform any contract activity on the property of USP Marion. The solicitation, all amendments, and related future information will be distributed solely through this website (http://www.fedbizopps.gov/),. Hard copies of the solicitation will not be available. Interested parties are responsible for monitoring this website to ensure that they have the most up-to-date information about this acquisition. All responsible small business sources are encouraged to submit a bid that will be considered for award. Any contractor interested in obtaining a contract-award with the Federal Bureau of Prisons, must be registered on-line at www.ccr.gov. United States Residency requirements are applicable to this solicitation. Bidding officials and contractor employees working under this contract on Federal grounds, will be required to sign a certification that for three of the five years immediately prior to responding to this solicitation, the bidder has: resided in the United States; worked for the U.S. overseas in a Federal or military capacity; or has been a dependent of a Federal or military employee serving overseas. Faith-Based and Community-Based Organizations can submit offers/bids/quotations equally with other organizations for contracts for which they are eligible.
