Description
SUBJECT: FIESTACROW 09: - "EW & CYBER... Global Spectrum Control" Description: The Billy Mitchell Chapter (BMC) of the Association of Old Crows, along with support from the Joint Information Operations Warfare Command, the Air Force Information Operations Center, Air Force ISR Agency, the 67th Network Warfare Wing, the 563 Flying Training Squadron and the Alamo Chapter of AFCEA, will present the 16th FIESTACROW technical symposium. FIESTACROW 09 will be held April 19-23, 2009 in San Antonio, Texas. The theme of the symposium is "EW & CYBER... Global Spectrum Control". Electronic Warfare (EW) has evolved beyond the traditional thinking of self protection pods, air defense systems, and radars. Our everyday lives operate within a spectrum that is driven by EW technology. Whether we realize it or not, every time we use our cell phones, wireless routers, Global Positioning Systems, electronic banking, etc., we are vulnerable to exploitation, deception, and privacy invasion. Just as we defend our personal interests, we must also defend our national interests. EW technology is even more essential to the day-to-day operations of the modern battlefield. The technology behind today's EW systems blurs the lines between our normal daily routine and what the warfighter encounters in low intensity conflicts to the point that there is no clear distinction between them. Separating military and civil use of the EW spectrum becomes next to impossible. Homeland defense and information operations are two other areas where EW is pivotal in their operations and effectiveness. EW is more than the medium that holds these missions together; it facilitates, enhances, and amplifies them. The role of EW in Cyber warfare is far reaching and fundamental in global spectrum control. A classified session will be held on Thursday, April 23rd. This leading edge technical program will explore topics within this broad category. Speakers for the program include: Lt Gen Ted Bowlds, Commander, ESC; Maj Gen Thomas Owen, Director, Logistics and Sustainment, AFMC; Col Laurie Buckhout, Chief, EW Division, HQDA G3; Visit the Fiestacrow Web site: http:// www.BMCAOC.org. click on Fiestacrow 2009 for update information the location, times and presenter information for both the technical session and classified sessions.. The exhibits area will be open Monday, April 20, 3:00 PM - 6:30 PM, Tuesday, April 21, 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM, and Wednesday, April 22, 11:00AM - 2:30 PM and 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM. In conjunction with FIESTACROW, an Industry Day with participants from Air Force ISR Agency, the Joint Information Operations Warfare Command, the Air Force Information Operations Center, and the City of San Antonio will be held on Tuesday morning, 21 April, at the convention center.. FIESTACROW 09 technical program, as usual, is held in conjunction with the San Antonio Fiesta. Coupled with the San Antonio hospitality during Fiesta, the parties that surround it, the River Parade and an elegant Grand Banquet, this is one event not to be missed.
