Description
This project corrects failing Electrical Distribution Systems (emergency electric and secondary distribution) in the North wing of Cooper Drive Division (CDD). This project replaces electrical distribution system components on the North wing of the CDD original building. Changes will be made to the Life Safety Branch and Critical Branch capacities, locations and associated transformers and distribution panels. Over the years, non-Life Safety equipment was added to the Life Safety Branch due to available capacity in terms of both electrical capacity and bus plug locations. This project will resize the Life Safety Branch to be an appropriate size for the required equipment and add a Critical Branch sized to meet the needs of critical equipment. Subsequent changes will be made to the transformers and distribution panels on the wing. This project upgrades and/or replaces components of the electrical distribution system currently in place at VAMC Lexington, KY CDD to meet current codes and standards and be adequately sized for the medical centers needs. Basic scope of work of this project is upgrade/replacement of emergency electric (Essential Electrical System-Life Safety Branch, Critical Branch) as required to meet current codes (NFPA 70 National Electric Code and NFPA 99 Healthcare Facilities) and upgrade/replacement of components of the secondary electrical distribution system on the North wing of the original (1973 activated) CDD building to meet current codes. Construction period is 304 days. This is a sealed bid procurement and is restricted to Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) firms. The estimated price of this project is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. The NAICS code is 236220, and the size standard is $33.5M. The solicitation should be issued on or about March 19, 2009 and proposals will be due on or about April 21, 2009. The solicitation and any amendments will be available by download only from the FedBizOpps website. Registration on the FedBizOpps website is required in order to download. This announcement serves as the advance notice for this project.
