- NASA Ames Research Center (ARC) is soliciting information on innovativeenvironmentally-friendly and high-performance building materials, technologies and goodsthat may be used in creating a next-generation, collaborative workspace building. Thebuilding will also serve as a test bed for emerging high-performance andenvironmentally-friendly building products. Specifically, ARC seeks information related to the core and shell of a building. Examplesof the items that are of interest include: concrete; masonry; metals; sheathing; thermaland moisture protection; openings; finishes; conveying equipment; fire suppression;plumbing; heating, ventilating and air conditioning; electrical; and communications. These items should be today's state-of-the art, or on the near-term horizon and likely tobecome available within the next two years. ARC is seeking to make the best use ofexisting and emerging building innovations and research. Items that meet today's highestenvironmental standards, such as Cradle-to-Cradle certification are of particularinterest. All information received in response to this Request for Information (RFI) that is markedProprietary will be handled and protected accordingly.Responses must include the following: name and address of firm and point of contactsname and phone number. All questions should be directed to: Teresa Marshall at teresa.a.marshall@nasa.gov.Please advise if the item is considered to be a commercial or commercial-type product.Acommercial item is defined in FAR 2.101. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes and is not to be construed as acommitment by the Government nor will the Government pay for information solicited.Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation. Respondents deemedfully qualified will be considered in any resultant solicitation for the requirement. Responses are requested by 4:30 PM Pacific Time, March 16, 2009. Interested respondentsare requested to submit responses to the RFI, via email, to teresa.a.marshall@nasa.gov. In all responses, please reference Innovative Environmentally-Friendly andHigh-Performance Building Materials, Technologies and Goods: Building Core and ShellOnly, Request for Information in the subject line and on all attachments. Only Word andPDF document formats will be accepted.The responses shall not exceed 5 pages in length.No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If asolicitation is released, it will be synopsized in FedBizOpps and on the NASA AcquisitionInternet Service. It is the respondents responsibility to monitor these sites for therelease of any solicitation or synopsis.
