- Description
- The Naval Air Systems Command intends to award a contract for non-recurring engineering (NRE) with ITT Avionics, Clifton, New Jersey, for development of an Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) to the ALQ-214 On-Board Jammer (OBJ) system currently deployed with the F/A-18E/F. The ECP is intended to allow the existing ALQ-214 to meet the On-Board Jammer (OBJ) requirement for the F/A-18C/D as well as the F/A-18E/F. The resultant ALQ-214 configuration will provide an improved OBJ capability for the F/A-18C/D when replacing the ALQ-126B, while maintaining all of the current ALQ-214 functionality when installed on the F/A-18E/F as part of the IDECM suite. This effort shall build upon the on-going ALQ-214 ECP Risk Reduction efforts, which consists of the completion of system segment specifications, and conduct of a preliminary design review. The scope of the NRE effort will include design, development, integration, and manufacture of sixteen (16) engineering development models (EDM) in support of Government laboratory and flight testing. This effort is being awarded on a sole source basis to ITT Avionics, in accordance with FAR 6.302-1 because ITT is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of the AN/ALQ-214(V)3 subsystem and is the only firm that can provide these services within the required time frames and cost limitations. This synopsis is being published for informational purposes only.
