*************CONTACT JANET APPLETON ONLY FOR QUESTIONS AND QUOTES; CONTACTINFORMATION IS WITHIN THE BODY OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT************************This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared inaccordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additionalinformation included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the onlysolicitation; offers are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This notice is being issued as a Request for Quotations (RFQ). The Marshall Space FlightCenter (MSFC) is requesting vendor services for the repair of an autoclave door at theMSFC facility. The autoclave measures approximately 18 feet in diameter and is 20 feet inlength. It was designed for pressures of 350 psi at 400 degrees F. During installation, asupport was installed beneath the door hinge and a thicker concrete pad was pouredbeneath the support as it was determined that the hinge required this support for thedoor to open and close properly. After some period of operation the door failed to openproperly and attempts were made to repair the door. One attempt consisted of weldingsteel to the door in order to stiffen the structure. The door is currently unable tooperate and it appears that the concrete pad underneath the door hinge support has moved.A vendor is requested to repair the door in order that the autoclave may be used onceagain. The autoclave is a certified pressure vessel. Any work performed on the autoclavedoor, welding or otherwise, has to be performed in a manner to retain that certification. The materials and equipment needed for repair of the autoclave door will not begovernment furnished. The repair must be reliable enough to allow for repeated openingand closing of the door on a daily basis for the life of the autoclave. Modifications tothe door shall not impede access of hardware in and out of the autoclave. See attachedspecification of the services being sought.
