- NOTICE OF INTENT TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER. Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Occupational Safety & Health has a requirement for a Dynamic Light Scattering/Zeta Instrument. An automated instrument capable of both dynamic light scattering to determine particle hydrodynamic diameter and zeta potential to determine particle charge. Employs continuous wave He-Ne laser. Laser has power of at least 4mW; Laser has wavelength of at 633nm or near (within 10nm) this wavelength. Light backscatter detector at a fexed angle of 90 degress or 173 degrees and/or multiple angles. Ability to determine hydrodynamic diameter in the range <nm to > um. Ability to determine particle zeta potential for sample with volume >500uL; ability to determine particle zeta potential for samples with concentration in the range 0.001% to >0% v/v. Capability to interface instrument with networked computer by Ethernet cable or USB cable. Windows-based instrument software with data reduction algorithms capable of summarizing unimodal and multimodal size distributions and zeta potential data. electrical: 100 - 240 VAC, 50/60 Hz.
