- United States Army Corps of Engineers, Vicksburg District has a requirement for ONE (1) Cone Penetrometer System/Truck. The Cone Penetrometer System functional requirements consists of main frame structure: the van body chassis shall be reinforced with wide flange or rectangular box reaction beams (Hogentogler Style or equivalent) which span the jacks and push rams; Hydraulic system; Van Body Enclosure; Van Body Accessories; Rod Clamping System; Guide Tube with Automatic Rod Decon System; Electrical system; Computer/Hydraulic Interface; Depth Cone (1); Cone Rod, Casing Rod, Cable; The safety features consists of Fire Extinguishers; First Aid Kit; Carbon Monoxide Monitor. The truck chassis should be ballasted to bring the gross vehicle reaction weight GVW to 20 tons. The ballast should be designed such that the center of gravity of the vehicle is located close to the centroid of the push rams. Ballast should be arranged such that there is a pivot point through the rams that rotate towards the back of the truck, when near refusal condition are reached.
