Description
The government is hereby requesting information/interest on the below items: Item: Hook & Eye US Military Hook & Eye (for the waistband) Years on contract: TBD Quantity: Is still being finalized however the annual estimated quantity of the end items total, 1,347,227. We would expect monthly demand for the hook & eye to be approximately 100,000-120,000 sets a month. Evaluation factors: To be determined. If a specification is needed, a request should be placed to: peter.monteleone@dla.mil The Defense appropriations and authorization acts and other statutes (including what is commonly referred to as “The Berry Amendment”) impose restrictions on the DoD’s acquisition of foreign products and services. Generally, Clothing and Textile items (as defined in DFARS clause 252.225-7012) and “specialty metals” (as defined in DFARS clause 252.225-7014), including the materials and components thereof (other than sensors, electronics, or other items added to, and not normally associated with clothing), must be grown, reprocessed, reused, melted or produced in the United States, its possessions or Puerto Rico, unless one of the DFARS 225.7002-2 exceptions applies. The technical data is on the following pages: Below is information on Hook and Eye as called out in our end item government specifications. I have also attached technical drawings. Please note that the technical drawings say "Black Nickel Plated" but the requirement is to be Nickel Plated, not Black. Hook and eye. The hook and eye for the waistband shall be North and Judd (Hook Flex H-49, K-50, H-89 and E-90); Universal Button Co. (Talon #3, #7, and #8 hook with #8 eye or #85 eye); Akim Co. or Patwin, Inc., Junior Series, type JB; Stimpson (P-536, D-4086, D-4457, D-4228); Rau (OA50, OX 1256, 080415), Patwin, Inc., (Slim-Slak with MB eye, and Silk-Slak) or equal. The base shall be steel with a nickel plate finish. Prior to the use of an “or equal” item, the contractor shall submit the item with supporting data to the contracting officer for approval.
