Description
This notice is issued by The SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, located in Menlo Park, California. We are soliciting responses from interested parties to deliver one (1) X-Ray Pump Probe (XPP) detector mover robot that meet the following requirements: The detector mover is required to position a custom, large area x-ray detector (1024 x 1024 pixels, approx. 200mm square) on / along spherical surfaces with radii ranging from 10 to 100 centimeters. The detector motion will be centered on pre-defined interaction points. The location of the center of spherical motion shall be within either of two regions separated by 600 millimeters nominal. The surface normal vector of the detector face center must point toward the pre-defined interaction point at all times. The rotation of the detector face about the motion radial vector must be accurately known at all times. Hardware systems and / or software programs must be developed and implemented to avoid defined “stay clear” areas. Baseline detector mover configuration is a six degree of freedom anthropomorphic industrial robot. Such a device must have the following minimum performance specifications: Maximum total weight: <2670 N (~<600 Lbf) Inverted (ceiling) mount capability Usable work envelope: >1.4 meter Payload: >270 N (~>60.5 Lbf) with mass CG 165 mm from end of effector. Repeatability of position: <100 micron (<+/-50) Stability of position: <10 micron (<+/-5) for >1 hour Power cycle stability: <20 micron (<+/-7.5) including transients “Usable work envelope” is defined as the difference between the maximum and minimum distance between joints 1 and 5. All applicable values are measured with respect to the robot mounting surface and do not include additional support structure. All applicable values are evaluated at detector speeds not more than 200 mm per second. Vendors interested in performing this requirement are invited to provide the following information to SLAC Purchasing Office no later than 26 February 2009. The information may be submitted via email to the Contract Administrator at clam@slac.stanford.edu or faxed to 650-926-8785. Responses shall include the following information: Reference number ROBOT04FEB09, Company name, DUNS Number, address, point of contact, phone number and email address; business size, disadvantage, 8(a), or HUBzone status; and, Evidence that the contractor has performed similar projects (past performance history). NO TELEPHONE OR WRITTEN REQUESTS FOR SOLICITATIONS OR POSTING STATUS. This posting is for information and planning purposes and is not to be construed as commitment by SLAC nor will SLAC pay for information solicited. No basis for claim against SLAC shall arise as a result from a response to the Sources Sought or SLAC use of any information provided. SLAC reserves the right to consider a small business, 8(a) or any other set aside arrangement as deemed appropriate for this procurement.
