Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to issue a sole source purchase order to Buxco Research Systems, 2033 Corporate Drive, Wilmington, NC 28405, for a one-site unrestrained whole-body plethysmograph system for conscious, freely-moving ferrets, with temperature and humidity equipment included, for use in aerosol studies. The equipment includes: BioSystem XA version 2.11 core software; WBP compensated whole body flow derived parameters analyzer, compensated; MAX enclosure, 9-slots with power supply and integrated analog-to-digital interface with USB connection; advance reamplifier card with calibration signal and external gain range adjustment (one channel); whole body plethysmograph for unrestrained rabbit using Halcyon low-noise pneumotachograph (patent #6,902,532); flow transducer with temperature and humidity input which requires MAX2275; temperature/humidity probe for use with TRD5715; four-channel bias flow @ 2.5 lpm; performance SFF PC (quadcore CPU; 2GB RAM, 250GB HD, 22" widescreen LCD monitor, DVD+/- RW, integrated stand, WinXP Pro, MS Office 2007 Pro with warranty); installation and training and comprehensive support. This system must seamlessly interface with CDC's current Biaera AeroMP aerosolization equipment, and must measure real time temperature and humidity, easily interfacing with animal telemetry systems. The Buxco model reduces baseline nose in the pnuemotachograph readings to give a more accurate minute volume calculation. CDC believes that this requirement is met by only one provider. This procurement will be processed under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 and 6.302-2. Only one responsible source and no other sources will satisfy agency requirements. No solicitation is being issued. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to this requirement. This procurement is not set-aside for small business. For contractual questions contact Linda M. Young.
