Request for Information (RFI)Two Man Combat TentM67854 O9I3018 Document Type: Sources Sought NoticeSolicitation Number: Posted date: Original Response Date: Original Archive Date:Current Archive Date:Classification code: Contracting Office Address:Marine Corps Systems Command, 2200 Lester Street, Quantico, VA 22134-6050 Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is conducting market research and seeking best practice information towards designing, developing, and buying a replacement for the 1996 Infantry Shelter. During the past 12 years, individual combat equipment (carried and worn by Marines) has increased in weight and quantity. MARCORSYSCOM is seeking to improve the design and reduce the weight of the Infantry Shelter. The Combat Tent shall provide environmental protection to two Marines and their equipment and shall be used during combat operations. The Combat Tent shall be lightweight, durable, and quickly erected and struck by one Marine. This tent shall be fabricated per CPAI-84. The performance attributes for the Combat Tent are outlined below: a) All tent materials shall meet flame spread per CPAI-84 or equivalent; b) The tent fabric shall be made of rip-stop material, be water resistant, fast drying and mildew resistant; c) Height =< 114.3 cm/45 in at apex; d) Floor Space =< 10.36 sq m/34 sq ft; e) Vestibule Area =< 3.0 sq m/10 sq ft; f) The tent design shall be free standing and have collapsible support structures; g) The tent design shall have entry/exit on two sides; h) The design shall have a seamless, built-in ground cloth; i) Erection and striking shall require no special tools and be accomplished by one Marine; j) The tent when erect shall provide protection against flying and crawling insects, and provide ventilation and minimize build up of condensation; k) The tent shall provide protection against visual and infrared detection; l) Coyote brown color. The tent while in storage or carried configuration shall have the following attributes: a) Length =< 17.78 cm/7 in; b) Width =< 55.88 cm/ 22 in; c) Cubic Space =< 15.24 cu cm/0.5 cu ft; e) Weight =< 3.4 kg/7.5 pounds. The tent design shall have a fly cover, and the fly shall have the following attributes: a) Coated for black out protection; b) Fastening techniques to easily attach and detach from tent; c) Large enough to cover all openings of the tent; d) Coyote brown color. The tent shall have two transport bags, a main transport bag and secondary transport bag. The main transport bag shall have the following attributes: a) Have a weather-seal flap; b) Have a cinching cord with a locking closure; c) Large enough to hold the fly, tent body, support structures, and tent stakes; d) Permanently attached to the tent fly; e) Coyote brown color. The secondary transport bag shall have the following attributes: a) The secondary bag shall be the same size as the main transport bag and contain a repair kit that shall repair broken support structures, tears in the fabric up to 4 inches, and replace lost or broken fasteners; b) Have a weather-seal flap; c) Have a cinching cord with a locking closure; d) Coyote brown color. The tent and fly shall be capable of operation in severe environmental conditions. The tent when erect shall have the following attributes: a) Stable and will withstand blowing snow, rain and wind; b) Operate in temperatures 0-120 degrees Fahrenheit; c) While operating in these conditions the tent shall have a service life of six (6) months; d) The tent shall remain serviceable for a minimum of 30 continuous erections and striking cycles. During storage under the same environmental conditions the tent shall have a shelf life of five (5) years while stored in non acclimatized warehouses. Vendors who believe they have a product capable of meeting these requirements are requested to provide product literature, brochures, price lists, warranty coverage, business size and any other relevant information. Quantity and funding availability are unknown at this time. The Berry Amendment will apply to any contractual instruments that may result regarding these responses.
