Description
SAIC-Frederick, Inc., in support of the Cancer Biomedical Informatics Grid (caBIG) Program, is requesting proposals for the caBIG® In Silico Research Centers. The Request for Proposal may be downloaded from http://web.ncifcrf.gov/bizopps/caBIG.asp. All questions or requests for clarification must be e-mailed to Jennifer Thomas at thomasjennifer@mail.nih.gov before 4:00 p.m. (EST) on January 16, 2009. All proposals must be received by 4:00 p.m. (EST) on February 20, 2009. Please see Section L: Instructions, Conditions, and Notices to Offerors for Proposal Preparation Instructions. For the purposes of this solicitation, in silico research is defined as any research program conducted using computational methods on biomedical data. This may include a variety of approaches such as modeling, novel data aggregation techniques, data mining, etc. in the support of hypothesis-driven research. The primary goal of the ISRC will be to add scientific value to the large-scale datasets developed as part of the caBIG® program, and currently accessible through the caGrid. ISRCEs will utilize tools developed as part of the caBIG® program, as well as other open-source or commercial tools as needed to accomplish the desired goals of making novel discoveries that have the potential to rapidly advance our understanding of cancer etiology and its effective treatment and prevention. Collaboration with basic and clinical scientists as part of the research, and publication of the findings are expected as part of the award. The solicitation is open to any academic or commercial organization with expertise in computational biology, informatics analysis, statistics, genomics, proteomics, or image analysis.
