- The Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Procurement and Grants Office announces the upcoming release of the solicitation for Tuberculosis Trials Consortium (TBTC) requirement. It is anticipated that multiple awards will be made as a result of this solicitation. Awards may be made to responsible, qualified entities in both the Continental United States as well as International locations. The anticipated period of performance for each contract is one base year period of 12 months, and nine subsequent 12 month option periods, for a total of 120 months or 10 years from the date of award. Award is expected to be made on or before September 30, 2009. The purpose of this requirement is to support clinical research in the diagnosis and treatment of tuberculosis (TB). The contractor(s) shall conduct all phases of clinical trials in patients with TB disease and, if applicable, latent TB infection, including (as needed) screening, diagnosis, enrollment, treatment, observation, data collection, and follow-up after therapy. The scope of activities will range from conducting small laboratory-based studies to large Phase 2 and long-term Phase 3 clinical trials to evaluate new TB drugs, diagnostics, and treatment regimens. The contractor(s) shall also participate fully as a member of the TB Trials Consortium (TBTC). All responsible, qualified entities are invited to submit a proposal to be considered by the Government. The estimated release date of the solicitation is January 30, 2009. Any institution who previously requested to attend the pre-solicitation conference held in November 2008, is not required to submit a request for a solicitation package as they will be included in the distribution. Any other interested party who wishes to receive a copy of the solicitation must submit their request in writing to the Contracting Officer, Rafael Aviles at raviles@cdc.gov or by submitting a written request to: Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, Procurement and Grants Office, attn: Rafael Aviles, Room 2308, 2920 Brandywine Rd, M/S K-75, Atlanta, Ga. 30341.
