- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for the purchase of 500 grams of polycrystallinegadolinium lithium fluoride (GLF) wafers with the following minimum specifications:Material:polycrystalline gadolinium lithium fluoride, GdLifPurity: 99% minimumDenisty:99.0% minimu wit goal of 99.5+%, relative to density of single crystal, GdLiF4 (5.7 g/cm3)Amount: 500 gramsDimensionscylindrical wafers measuring 20mm diameter, 3mm thicknessTolerance:on diameter, +0mm, -0.1mm Tolerance:on top thickness, +0.1mmTolerance:top & bottom surfaces parallel to +0.025mmVendor shall provide documentation of chemical purity of starting materials used in themanufacture of the GLF wafers.NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Yarmouth Materials Incorporated.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.DO Rating is DO-C9. The synopsis shall not be construed as a commitment by theGovernment, nor will the Government pay for the information solicited.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 3:00 p.m. easternlocal time on January 29, 2009. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluatedsolely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on acompetitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed efforton a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solelywithin the discretion of the government.Oral communications ARE NOT acceptable in response to this notice.All contractual and technical questions must be submitted in writing via e-mail toJanicea.L.McCree@nasa.gov or via facsimile at 301-286-9159 no later than January 26,2009, 3:00 p.m. eastern local time.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.An Ombudsman has been appointed.
