- The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to enter into sole source negotiations with FN Herstal, S.A. for a firm-fixed price contract modification under contract number N00019-06-C-0092 for the procurement of: (a) development and production of two (2) production representative fittings to replace existing CAT136 forward crossbeam mount fittings on the GAU-21 medium window pintle (MWP) interface for the CH-53E right hand system for validation and verification; (b) a finite element analysis (FEA) and strength analysis; (c) a drawing package; (d) the production of one hundred thirty two (132) production units for retrofit on previously delivered MWP’s in accordance with a Class 1 Engineering Change Proposal (ECP); (e) other engineering, logistics, and technical support services for the successful production of the aforementioned supporting hardware and/or retrofit of the existing MWP’s for the CH-53E right hand system. Unless otherwise stated herein, no formal request for proposal or additional written information is currently available. Request for same will be disregarded. A determination by the Government not to compete is solely within the discretion of the Government. This synopsis is published for information purposes only (THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS). FN Herstal is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of the GAU-21 machine gun, and as such, is the only known source available with the requisite technical knowledge, experience and tooling to produce the requirements described herein to satisfy the government’s requirement. The North American Industry Classification Systems (NAICS) code for the supplies anticipated needed herein is 332995.
