Description
The Naval Aviation Systems Command (NAVAIR 6.8.4), is issuing this Sources Sought Notice to identify potential vendors and to acquire enhanced knowledge and understanding of industry's capabilities and approach to migrating a Teradata Data Warehouse to an Oracle Database or an equal solution. NAVAIR currently utilizes Teradata for the DECKPLATE Data Warehouse and Reporting System which contains historical maintenance, flight, engine, and cost data for Naval Aviation.Teradata also serves as the Aviation Data Warehouse solution which is referenced in the COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2A, 15 Feb 2008. When the decision to use Teradata was originally decided, it was based on several factors: 1) DECKPLATE would need to be a Very Large Data Warehouse (VLDB) and the system would need to store 22tb of data. That was over-estimated as we currently have a total of 3tb of data divided among three environments (development, test and production). We have approximately 2000 tables. It is possible that we may double or triple our capacity in the next couple of years. 2) The solution would need to provide near-real-time data and allow 100 plus concurrent queries. Currently we have two Oracle interface systems that are updated several times a day. 3) DECKPLATE would be a transactional system. Currently DECKPLATE utilizes Oracle to provide a web front end for our transactional users. This data is then transferred into the data warehouse for storage, retrieval and reporting. 4) DECKPLATE would provide reporting capabilities in one place for our users. DECKPLATE currently utilizes the COGNOS Business Intelligence (version 8.3) as our business intelligence tool. NAVAIR envisions a solution that will convert Teradata V2R6.2 to Oracle Database 11G or like. It would migrate and interface the COGNOS Business Intelligence tools and capabilities that we currently use with Teradata. We would like to utilize our current IBM P590 Server or possibly upgrade to the IBM P595. We would like to use a Windows Front End Server for our user interfaces. Please respond with a formulated plan in Word or utilizing Microsoft Office. Submission should be made to Apryl Gilbert at apryl.gilbert@navy.mil. No telephonic responses will be considered; if clarification of this Request For Information (RFI) is needed please email the address above. Submitted information will not be returned. This is not a request for proposal or quotation. No solicitation document exists. This is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to procure these items, nor does the Navy intend to award on the basis of the sources sought/market research or otherwise pay for the information requested. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect cost or charges by the Government will arise as a result of submission of responses to this RFI.
