Description
This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http://www.fbo.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce on Line (NECO) site located at http://www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for posting of synopsis and solicitations to the internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the Naval Sea Systems Command. The Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division, Newport intends to award on a sole source basis a Firm Fixed Price type contract to Barry Controls, Hopkinton, MA for engineering services required for material selection, testing, development of tooling, and the manufacture of four (4) prototype Navy Grippers. The period of performance is six months from the date of award. Barry Controls has invested their own time and money to investigate, conceive, and analyze the gripper element geometry, as well as dev! eloping methods for manufacturing the gripper element, and developing proprietary prototype drawings. For any other source to acquire adequate knowledge to perform this work would severely impact program schedule and cost. Additional information will be provided upon the release of RFQ N66604-09-Q-1291, scheduled to be on or about 19 Jan 2009. Solicitation shall be 100% small business set-aside, applicable NAICS code is 326291, size standard is 500 employees. The proposed contract action is for supplies and services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A Determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information rec! eived will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Defense Priorities and Allocations System (DPAS) rating of DO-C9 applies. For information on this acquisition please contact Michael Broomfield at 401-832-8469, michael.h.broomfield@navy.mil.
