- A Weight Handling Equipment Industry Forum Day will be held on 27 January 2009 starting at 0800 located at Hilton Norfolk Airport Hotel, 1500 North Military Highway, Norfolk, Virginia, 23502-1813, telephone (757-466-8000). The purpose of this Industry Forum is to provide information regarding the scope of the upcoming Weight Handling Equipment Multiple Award Contract (WHEMAC). The agenda of the Industry Day will also provide information and answer questions regarding the subject requirement. In order for the Government to better answer the questions of interested parties at the Industry Day, it is requested that questions be submitted prior to the forum. If you have any questions regarding the WHEMAC requirement, please send your questions to Christine Foskey-Brown, email address christine.foskey@navy.mil by 21 January 2009. The WHEMAC will be used primarily for the ordering of new Overhead Electric Traveling Cranes (OET) of varying spans and lifting capacities for Navy, Marine Corp, or other federal activities worldwide. The work contemplated under the WHEMAC will include, but not be limited to site survey/investigation, design, fabrication, rail survey/installation, demolition/removal of existing cranes and equipment, runway/equipment electrification, crane installation, crane testing, operational training, etc. While it is anticipated that the WHEMAC will be used primarily for the purchase of new OET cranes, other equipment/services that may be ordered include new Jib cranes, Monorails, Trolley Hoists, Wall Cranes, or similar weight handling equipment; and reconstitution/overhaul of the various types of weight handling equipment covered by the contract. Ovehead Electric Traveling Cranes will be designed and manufactured in accordance with CMAA 70. Application for use of the weight handlin! g equipment to be procured under the WHEMAC may range from general purpose to more complex applications. The Government reserves the right to award a minimum of five (5) Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contracts, and may award one firm fixed price contract covering only the seed project identified in the solicitation. Award will be based on source selection criteria. This procurement will be a small business set-aside. Attendance at the Industry Day is not a prerequisite for ultimately submitting any future proposals. However, it will provide a valuable opportunity for questions and answers. Attendance at this Industry Day is not to be construed as either a commitment by the Government to procure any items or services, or for the Government to pay costs for any information received.
