Description
The Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is seeking design, quality, availability and performance information from potential sources for protective eyewear (goggles and spectacles) for USMC field use as standard issue ballistic and UV protective eyewear. Of particular interest are spectacle kits and goggle kits (with interchangeable prescription lenses) with the following characteristics: eye protection from harmful UV A/B/C with particular eye protection emphasis on UV B wavelength rays (short wavelengths of 290nm-320nm); eye protection from light ballistic fragmentation that meets or exceeds Army Military Combat Eyewear Program latest requirements, MCEPS MIL-PRF-44366BB; high performance optics meeting ANSI Z87.1-2003 tested as a high impact spectacle or goggle (with test data on impact resistance, optical performance, prismatic powers, resolving, refractive, haze, optical distortion, neutrality, chromacity and luminous transmittance); lightweight; scratch res! istant; maximum field of view; minimal fogging (anti-fogging); compatibility with USMC lightweight helmets; compatibility with communication headset systems; compatibility with Combat Arms Hearing Protection; compatibility with currently fielded optical systems (NVGs, thermals, scopes); compatibility with all current weapons systems; compatibility with prescription inserts (interchangeable from spectacles to goggles); provision of crush-resistant hard case; provision of sun, wind, dust and military ballistic protection in all/extreme environments; greatest achievable velocity (fps) protection from ballistics/fragmentation while maintaining low weight, thickness and bulk; compatibility with attached prescription lenses; prescription lenses shall be resistant to cracking when tested in the worn configuration to the same ballistics tests; FED STD 595B approved frame colors (Black, Coyote 476, Tan 499); provision of clear and solar (bright light) ballistic lenses; provision of! lens providing snow-blindness protection; and easy replacement of lenses for both goggles and spectacles. LITERATURE AND WRITTEN RESPONSES: Interested parties should submit product information including literature, brochures, price lists, warranty coverage, laboratory testing information, product samples, and any other relevant information. Company size, capability and past performance information should be included. Information and samples will not be returned. INDUSTRY DAY: MARCORSYSCOM will host a Military Eye Protection System Industry Conference on 12-13 January 2009, at Kalman & Company, Inc., 50 Tech Parkway, Stafford, Va. 22556. Conference will be held in the VTC-Center Room on 12 January 2009, and in the VIP room on 13 January 2009. The conference will commence on 0900 on 12 January 2009 with a MARSYSCOM overview of current program goals, capability needs, constraints, other information and answers to written questions or concerns received before the conference date. A limited number of individual sessions can be arranged by appointment with the MARSYSCOM team by appointment to discuss company-specific ideas, concerns, prototypes, and etc. The individual sessions will be from 1300 to 1800 on 12 January 2009 and from 0900-1800 (last session will be at 1730)13 January 2009. Sessions will not exceed thirty (30) minutes and should include company qualifications/background, similar-relevant past performance information, p! otential teaming arrangements, and business size. Companies wishing to attend the conference and/or make an individual session appointment should register no later than 5 January 2009, 4:00 PM local time, by emailing Andrew Fonda at andrew.fonda@usmc.mil. The limited number of individual sessions are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Emails should include company name, point of contact name and phone number, name and title of attendees, and whether registering for conference and/or a one-on-one session. Individual session participation is limited to four persons per company. Questions and or concerns may be submitted in writing to Andrew Fonda: andrew.fonda@usmc.mil prior to the conference date.
