The program will use a system integration approach and system trade studies to select the required technologies to lead to JP-8 surrogate fuel production costing less than $3 a gallon at production rates of 50 million gallons per year. The main goal of the program is the mass production of triglyceride oils from algal feedstock at a total cost of $1 to $2 per gallon of oil.
