- Description
- The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division intends to enter into a purchase order on a sole source basis with EMW Inc for the procurement of Part Number N2400-41576-2 15 each Fresnel Lens and Part Number 515284-1 30 each Glide Scope Indicator (GSI) Tri Color Lens. The lenses fit in a precise convex and concave frame located in the Cell Assembly of the Stabilized Glide Scope Indicator (SGSI), a vessel based landing aid. Technique to manufacture the lenses is one of injection molding requiring a precision mold with stepped facets that precisely focus light as it passes through the lens. Lenses must meet exacting criteria and are 100% inspected requiring frequent repeated evolutions. Development of a full procurement package would require access to proprietary supplier drawings and precision molds which are not owned by the Government. The Government intends to procure this item under the authority of 10 U.S.C 2304, as implemented by FAR 6.302-1. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which may be considered by the Government in determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. A determination by the Government not to open the requirement to competition based upon the responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
