Description
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Weather Service (NWS) has a requirement for up to 23,008 each new 1680 MHz (ART) Type IIA radiosondes and for up to 4,000 each Reconditioned 1680 MHz (ART) Type IIA radiosondes. These radiosondes will be used for the 10 Cooperative Hurricane Upper Air Stations (CHUAS) sites in the Caribbean (i.e., Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Curacao, Grand Cayman, Jamaica, San Andres, Santo Domingo, St. Maarten, and Trinidad). Also, new Type IIA radiosondes will be used for the following NWS Network sites during the interim period until these sites are converted to Radiosonde Replacement System (RRS) sites: Majuro, Hilo, Guam, Annette, St. Paul Island, Barrow, San Juan, Dodge City, San Diego, Key West, Great Falls, Pittsburgh, Caribou, Desert Rock, Oakland, and Medford. Only radiosondes which are included on the applicable NWS Qualified Products List may be offered in response to this solicitation. Information concerning the applicable NWS Qualified Products List may be obtained by contacting Carl A. Bower, Jr., NWS Code W/OPS22, at telephone (301) 713-2093 extension 115. Further, the radiosondes must be compatible with the ground equipment presently at the sites. The NWS does not intend to convert any NWS Network sites prior to deployment of the RRS at these sites. Deliveries will be made F.O.B. Destination to the National Logistics Support Center in Kansas City, Missouri commencing not later than March 2009 at a rate of up to 1,664 radiosondes per month. The Government will not require deliveries to take place beyond the period ending three years after contract award. One or more of the items under this acquisition is subject to the World Trade Organization Government Procurement Agreement and Free Trade Agreements. Solicitation DG133W-09-RP-0023 will be issued on or about December 26, 2008 and will close on or about January 26, 2009. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which shall be considered by the agency.
