Description
The Centralized Acquisition Service, VISN 6, Department of Veterans Affairs announces our intention to solicit sole source for Robotic Surgical Systems for their medical centers located in Durham, NC and Richmond, VA with Intuitive Surgical, Inc. A source sought notice was posted to FBO from November 3-17, 2008 with no responses. The daVinci Robotic Surgical system offered by Intuitive meets all the requirements of VISN 6 as specified below:An acceptable Robotic Surgical Systems consists of an ergonomically designed surgeon's console, a patient-side cart with interactive robotic arms, the high-performance monitoring system. The surgeon's hand movements are scaled, filtered and seamlessly translated into precise movements to the instruments that are beyond the capabilities of the human hand. Robotic Surgical Systems should be cleared by the FDA for surgical procedures and should have the following capabilities: radical prostatectomy, pyeloplasty, cystectomy, nephrectomy, ureteral reimplantation hysterectomy, myomectomy and sacrocolpopexy; cholecystectomy, Nissen fundoplication, Heller myotomy, gastric bypass, donor nephrectomy, adrenalectomy, splenectomy and bowel resection; internal mammary artery mobilization and cardiac tissue ablation, mitral valve repair, endoscopic atrial septal defect closure; mammary to left anterior descending coronary artery anastomosis for cardiac revascularization with adjunctive mediastinotomy. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit quotations. This notice of intent is not a request for quotations. Interested parties that believe they can meet these needs must supply information about their capabilities no later than 5:00pm EST, 12/17/2008. All information shall be furnished at no cost or obligation to the Government. No solicitation will be made available. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The anticipated award date is 1/9/2009. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Telephone or faxed inquiries will not be accepted.
