Description
Market Research – Sources Sought This Sources Sought Notice number RFI-51-09-001 is issued by the US Forest Service in performing market research to determine industry interest and capabilities. This is a request for information announcement only. This is not a solicitation or request for proposal and in no way commits the Government to award a contract. The Government does not intend to award a contract(s) based solely on the submission of this Request for Information nor does it intend to pay for any costs incurred in response to this announcement. The US Forest Service reserves the right to terminate this request and change its requirements if needed. Responding to this notice does not guarantee participation in future activities. The US Forest Service is issuing this sources sought as part of market research for the availability of potential sources interested in the areas of Geospatial and IT technical support to the Forest Service Remote Sensing Applications Center (RSAC) located in Salt Lake City, Utah. This contract will be for on-site technical support in projects and technology transfer conducted by RSAC throughout the entire Forest Service. The contract period will be for a potential of 5 years (one base year and 4 option years). The contractor shall furnish all labor, supervision and supplies (other than for those that will be listed as Government-furnished items) necessary to conduct on-site technical support at RSAC. Technical support will be required within the following RSAC program functions and may be expanded to other similar projects as the need arises: * Provide remote sensing/GIS technical support to RSAC strategic and tactical fire support projects including the Active Fire Mapping program and the Burned Area Emergency Response (BAER) imagery support program. * Perform remote sensing and geospatial-related projects designed to support management of forest, range, watersheds, minerals, and other natural resources. * Provide operational support to a variety of ongoing Forest Service programs through development of web-based geospatial-related applications. * Provide computer systems support, incidental maintenance, and operational support for RSAC geospatial applications and web-based systems. * Provide computer systems support, incidental maintenance, and operational support for the RSAC MODIS Direct Broadcast (DB) receiving station. Also maintains the MODIS imagery archive and database. The US Forest Service is seeking all small businesses, to include Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses, HUBZone Small Businesses, SBA 8(a) Disadvantaged Small Businesses or any other small business that have the capability and qualifications to fully complete the above requirements. The US Forest Service anticipates awarding a five year indefinite delivery indefinite quantity contract; the NAICS code is 541360 ($4.5), Geophysical and mapping Services. Any vendor responding to this sources sought must provide written information on their company's ability to meet the above requirements. Written information should include descriptions of current and past contracts for similar work, past performance information, dollar value and Government point of contact. Information should be submitted to L. Bryce Eddy, referencing the above sources sought number at beddy@fs.fed.us. Telephonic inquiries will not be accepted. All information should be received by the R4 UASC contact by close of business, Tuesday, December 30, 2008. There is no solicitation document available at this time. Either mail, fax or electronic submission of the above information is acceptable. The government will not return or pay for any information provided in response to this announcement.
