- Contracting Office Address: AURA-Gemini Observatory, 670 N. A'ohoku Place, Hilo, Hawaii 96720 The Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy, Inc. ("AURA"), acting as the operator of the Gemini Observatory, is interested in procuring three red-sensitive CCD detectors for its optical imaging and spectroscopic instruments with quantum efficiency >~35% at 1.0 micron. Gemini Observatory is currently seeking delivery of three detectors, but there may be a future requirement for three additional detectors. These devices will be used in Gemini's Multi-Object Spectrometer, GMOS. The nominal specifications include an approximately 2048 x 4096 13.5 - 15 micron pixel format sensitive from 0.4 to 1.0 micron. Science grade cosmetics, two-side buttability, read noise <~4 e- rms and dark current <~5 e-/pixel/hr are required. A Request for Proposal (RFP) for this procurement will be issued by AURA in December 2008 or January 2009 to those that submit a request to receive the RFP by 15 December 2008.
