Description
The Library of Congress intends to issue an RFQ on behalf of FEDLINK customer Social Security Administration (SSA) to procure the services of a technical services librarian and technician. The technical services librarian shall possessing a proficiency in all aspects of library automation systems and processes and other library functions which pertain to the operation of the SSA Library. In particular, the librarian shall be responsible for: 1) all copy and original cataloging of materials (hard-copy and electronic monographs and serials) added to the SSA Library collection; 2) serials processing and control using the SirsiDynix Horizon integrated library system for print and electronic serials; 3) shelving new books and serials, discarding old editions and volumes when appropriate, and maintaining holdings in the SirsiDynix Horizon system and in the OCLC WorldCat database; 4) processing and shelving all titles in the legal collection; 5) maintaining the circulation module within the library system, including creating and maintaining borrower records and updating the library system when material is borrowed or returned. In order to qualify for consideration, a Masters of Library Science degree is required. The technical services technician shall be responsible for: 1) receiving book supplements; 2) filing pocket parts; 3) coordinating the filing of loose-leaf updates; 4) organizing materials for filing services; and 5) processing invoices. The period of performance will be January 5, 2009 through December 31, 2009. Work shall be performed on-site at the SSA Library in Baltimore, Maryland.
