- NASA/GSFC has a requirement for the acquisition of a linear actuator withassociated controller and vacuum compatible cables for the Laser Interferometer SpaceAntenna (LISA) Optical Assemble Tracking Mechanism Test-Bed.The Linear actuator must meet the following requirements:- Non-magnetic and does not generate magnetic fields during operation; - Vacuum compatible; - Provides 1 nm or smaller step size (or micro-step size); - Provides a minimum of 20 mm total travel; - Control system/control electronics that may be re-engineered for a space vacuumapplication; - Operating temperature range of within 20 +/- 10C; and - A position feedback sensor.NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Physik Instrumente L.P. pursuant to FAR13.106, for the acquisition of supplies or services determined to be reasonably availablefrom only one source.The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12.Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform theeffort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 2:30 p.m. local timeon the date specified. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for thepurpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and opencompetition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretionof the government.Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency.An Ombudsman has been appointed. See NASA Specific Note "B".
