- Description
- The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, intends to purchase GEDMS systems via split award to The Boeing Company and DRS EW and Network Systems, Inc. Boeing is located at 5301 Bolsa Avenue,Huntington Beach, CA92647-2048. DRS is located at 485 Cayuga Rd, Buffalo, NY 14225-1309. Competition is limited to these two qualified manufacturing sources as the time and expense to qualify additional vendors is too prohibitive. GEDMS is a vital mission-critical build-to-print system, where no commercially adequate products satisfy the design requirements. It is not a performance-based militarized commercial-off-the-shelf system design, although there are performance based COTS components. All items shall be in compliance with NAVSEA system specifications DMS 500.7 and GEDMS 300.0 and will be listed in the solicitation that will follow this announcement. Firms interested in subcontracting opportunities should contact Boeing and DRS directly. Delivery, inspection, and acceptance shall likewise be identified in the solicitation. It is anticipated that the solicitation will be issued on 15 January 2009 with a closing date of 2 March 2009. Contract award is estimated to be 1 April 2009.
