- Description
- The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with J & J Healthcare Systems, 425 Hoes Lane, Piscataway, NJ 08855, to purchase Bookwalter retractors and all attachments that are required to enable this retractor system to function properly, in accordance with FAR 6.302-1. The Bookwalter Retractor is the only mechanical retractor to offer one frame for all exposure needs, multi-planed retraction, and unlimited customization depending on the type of surgical procedure and the area that visualization is required. It has a locking interchangeable design so any blade can be used, from pediatric to obesity, with any handle. This decreases the number of handles and the system weight. These instruments have proven to be of the best quality in durability and sharpness to allow for precise accuracy during difficult and routine procedures. Brookwalter is the manufacturer and sole distributor of this system. This Notice of Intent is NOT a request for competitive proposals. Parties may express their interest; accompanied by supporting literature, to the Contracting Officer no later than November 26, 2008 C.O.B. Responses should be sent to William.Matelan.va.gov or faxed to Bill Matelan at (412) 954-4035. Telephone responses will not be accepted. Information received will be for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement.
