- Columbia River Channel Improvments Rock Removal Contract This dredging project includes new work for the improvement of the Columbia River from River Mile 65+00 to River Mile 67+50 and River Mile 87+25 to River Mile 88+25. Disposal of new work material from River Mile 65+00 to River Mile 67+50 and River Mile 87+25 to River Mile 88+25 will be located at the designated upland site, Cottonwood Island. The Contractor shall be required to commence work at any time after Notice To Proceed (NTP) to prosecute the work diligently and complete the work not later than 400 calendar days after issuance of NTP. A Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) shall be provided for all new contracts with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District. For this project, the person that will act as the SSHO is required to have a minimum of 3 years safety work with similar projects and a 30 Hour OSHA construction safety class, or equivalent, taken within the last 3 years. The SSHO may have no other duties for this work except function as the on-site CQC Manager. This solicitation will be issued on or about 24 February 2009. The Contractors proposals will be due on or about 27 March 2009. This procurement is open to both large and small business concerns. For additional updates, and changes please visit the FedBizOpps.gov website. There will be a prospective bidder/public informational meeting concerning this contract. This meeting will focus on the general items associated with the preparation and solicitation of the contract and any initial questions from interested parties. Samples of the rock from the anticipated blasting area will be available for review during the meeting. This meeting will be held on December 9th at 10:00 a.m. at the Robert Duncan Plaza Center.
