- ***NOTICE: SOLICITATION #08ERSS0022, BALTIMORE MD WELL DRILLING PROJECT HAS BEEN CANCELLED IN ITS ENTIRETY.*** The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is announcing an observation-well drilling and installation program in the Gwynns Falls watershed of southeastern Baltimore County, Maryland, an area underlain by saprolite and metamorphic bedrock. Contractors will be invited to bid on the job, which will include the installation of about 40 relatively shallow observation wells using either the air-rotary or air-hammer drilling method. The wells will range in depth from about 30 feet to 125 feet and they will be constructed similar to private homeowner water wells. A shallow and a deep well will be installed at each of about 20 sites that will be selected by the USGS. The well-installation program will take place over a 4-week period in November or December of 2008. The work shall be performed in Baltimore County, Maryland, in accordance to the specifications in the Statement of Work for Drilling and Installation of a new well.
