- Description
- The Dahlgren Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCDD), intends to award a sole source contract to Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), 10501 FGCU Boulevard South, Fort Myers, Florida 33965-6565 for photocatalytic technology for use in decontamination of agents, specifically toxins. Florida Gulf Coast University has the expertise required to develop and test photocatalytic technologies as a decontamination system as evidenced by utilizing their proprietary chemical process to coat a very thin TIO2 semi-conductor coating directly onto titanium metal. They have also developed an anodized photocatalytic coating, which can be electrolytically deposited on the face of a metal foil. FGCU is the only source that has demonstrated proficiency and the necessary expertise through their coating process that can support an initiative by the Joint Science and Technology Office for Chemical and Biological Defense (JSTO-CBD) aimed at developing effective chemical and biological! decontamination technologies for eventual transition to the joint DOD community, through the JSTO-CBD Directorate Technology Transition Office. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 611310.
