Description
WA9-0190 All parts, materials and tools will be provided by the contractor. Contractor(s) will participate in the Pre-Job Briefings to insure that good communications is established with WANCDF Engineering, Operations and Maintenance departments before any work begins. Extreme caution shall be taken to insure that unplanned outages will not occur. Westinghouse Anniston (WA) is soliciting the services of a Field Service Technician (Prefer Certified Fire Protection Company) to perform quarterly and Annual inspection, testing and certification of the PMB, CHB and CHB UPA sprinkler systems. All inspection and testing shall be in accordance with NFPA 72 and 25. An electrical technician will be present in order to escort and assist the vendor with PM as needed. Testing and inspection shall be performed in accordance with NFPA 25 QUARTERLY: 4 performances per system, per fiscal year of the following: Work should include, but is not limited to the following: 1. Inspect all threaded and rubber gasket type fittings for damage, evidence of leakage, corrosion, or erosion. 2. Inspect all gauges to verify that they are in their proper operating range, no leaks are present, and there is no physical damage. 3. Perform a walk down of the entire sprinkler system inspecting for painted sprinkler heads, obstructed sprinkler heads, or leaks. 4. Visually inspect the sprinkler system hangers and clamps for damaged, missing, or loose supports or clamps. 5. Perform a main drain test. Compare readings with previous test to determine whether there has been a change in the water supply piping or control valves. 6. Test each water flow device for proper operation and verify the alarm is received in the CON. 7. Test each supervisory switch to verify proper operation. 8. Test the low air pressure alarm for proper operation. 9. Test the quick opening device. 10. Test the priming water level. 11. After completion, update the inspection card to reflect the date of inspection, person performing inspection, and company name. 12. Contractor to provide Westinghouse with documentation within 14 days stating that the tested system meets quarterly inspection requirements as required by NPPA 25. ANNUAL: one performance per system, per fiscal year of the following: Work should include, but is not limited to the following: 1. Inspection of all system components for damage 2. Verification of proper System activation 3. Verification of indications and alarms. 4. Clean, lubricate and verification of proper operation of valves. Repair as necessary 5. Inspection and cleaning of filters and strainers 6. Inspection of fire department connections and replacement of components as necessary. 7. Verification of proper operation of automatic drains, check valves and miscellaneous system components. 8. Verification of proper water pressures. 9. Verification of proper spare parts and tools in the riser cabinet 10. Reset system 11.Contractor shall Update the inspection tag to reflect the date and system condition. 12. Contractor to provide Westinghouse with documentation stating that the tested system meets annual inspection requirements as required by NPPA 25 within 14 days. Tag Number list: 03-PMB-SPRINKLER 03-CHB-SPRINKLER 03-CHB-UPA-SPINKLER WA9-0307 PURPOSE OF PROCUREMENT AND SCOPE OF WORK All parts, materials and tools will be provided by the contractor. Westinghouse Anniston (WA) is soliciting the services of a Field Service Technician (Prefer Certified Fire Protection Company) to perform quarterly and Annual inspection, testing and certification of the gate 5A warehouse wet pipe sprinkler system. All inspection and testing shall be in accordance with NFPA 72 and 25. QUARTERLY: 4 performances per fiscal year. 1. The quarterly test shall include testing of each water flow alarm, priming water, low air pressure alarm, and each supervisory switch. 2. A main drain test shall be performed in accordance with NFPA 25. Readings shall be provided to Westinghouse for evaluation. 3. Inspect all gauges to verify they are in their proper operating ranges, no leaks are present, and there is no physical damage. Every fifth year each gauge shall be replaced using vendor provided gauges. 4. A visual inspection of each sprinkler system shall be conducted to insure the integrity of the piping, supports, clamps, and sprinkler heads. 5. Each water flow device shall be tested in accordance with NFPA 25. 6. Fire department connections shall be inspected. 7. Each supervisory switch shall be tested. ANNUAL: One performance per fiscal year. 1. The annual test shall include a complete inspection of the sprinkler system to insure the integrity of the piping, supports, clamps, and sprinkler heads. 2. All control valves shall be inspected, correct position verified, and tested in accordance with NFPA 25. 3. System strainers and filters shall be inspected and cleaned as required. 4. Each valve that requires lubrication shall be lubricated and operated as per the manufacturers recommendation. 5. Each tamper switch shall be tested for proper operation. 6. Each manual device shall be operated through its entire range. 7. Inspect fire pump casing and relief valves. 8. Verify all fire pump and jockey pump electrical switches are in their proper position. 9. Inspect alignment of the fire pump coupling. 10. Verify packing glands are properly adjusted. 11. Perform a 150% fire pump peak load test and record flow rates. 12. Perform 10 automatic starts. 13. Perform 10 manual starts. 14. Verify automatic and manual stops function properly. 15. If required replace the graph paper. 16. Record all pressure, RPM, and GPM readings as specified in NFPA 25. 17. At the completion of testing, shall provide Westinghouse with written documentation stating each sprinkler system meets all NFPA requirements. 18. An inspection card provided by the vendor shall be updated after each inspection and placed at each riser. The vendor, at the completion of the test, shall provide Westinghouse with written documentation stating each sprinkler system meets all NFPA requirements. The vendor shall be responsible to have a certified technician onsite for each scheduled inspection. SCHEDULE OF WORK: The schedule will be determined by Westinghouse. It may vary slightly due to operations ability to release each system.
