Description
National Security Technologies is seeking sources for: Materials and Devices on Quantum Dot enhanced AlGaN-based Photodetectors Subcontractor shall provide technical services for materials and device development and characterization of the integration of colloidal quantum dots into the active region of UV-sensitive, AlGaN/GaN-based photodetectors. Devices incorporating new materials providing narrow-band, high-efficiency response characteristics at room temperature are to be investigated, developed and characterized for the 200-nm to 365-nm wavelength region, and critically compared relative to Si-based devices. AlGaN/GaN-based metal-semiconductor-metal (MSM) photodetectors with colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) are to be developed. Materials simulation programs for energy states must be used. Characterization of fields, dark noise, signal enhancement with size and composition of CQDs, and the means of performing uniform deposition must be addressed. Subcontractor must show definitive capabilities to investigate the correlation between internal effects and external signal-to-noise improvements in photodetection devices. Capabilities to theoretically explain and practically determine the efficiency and sensitivity of the conversion of incident radiation to current transducer must be clearly apparent in response. Materials development capabilities and services must include Migration Enhanced Metal Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MEMOCVD TM ). Materials characterization capabilities and services must include Atomic Force Microscopy, Photoluminescence, Excimer lasers, Rutherford Backscattering, and Light Induced Transient Grating Technique. Device characterization capabilities and services must include Spectrum Analyzer, and Semiconductor Parameter Analyzer. Professional services shall be provided as subject matter experts on quantum dot development, AlGaN substrate growth, AlGaN photodetector development, optical material characterization, low frequency noise device characterization. The subcontract must also provide access to technical project information from a National Science Foundation Industry/University Cooperative Research Center focused on developing end-to-end systems for a variety of applications including networked sensor systems, remote sensing and homeland security. Interested Parties are to provide a capabilities statement not to exceed 10 pages.
