Description
Solicitation Number: FA8535-09-0001-Borescopes-RFI Notice Type: Request for Information Synopsis: Request for Information Performance Based Logistics Borescopes CAUTION: This request for information/market survey is being conducted to identify potential sources that may possess the expertise, capabilities, and experience to meet the requirements for performance based logistics support and sustainment of the Air Force inventory of Borescopes (rigid, flexible (fiberscope), and videoscope). Contractors/Institutions responding to this market research are placed on notice that participation in this survey may not ensure participation in future solicitations or contract awards. The government will not reimburse participants for any expenses associated with their participation in this survey. WR-ALC has a requirement for support and sustainment of borescopes used throughout the Air Force Inventory. Current research will analyze the commercial market for contractors who can repair borescopes (rigid, flexible (aka fiberscopes), and videoscopes) from multiple manufacturers. The borescopes identified below represent the capabilities identified by the Air Force as representative of the requirements necessary to meet the mission. An extensive study has been conducted to reduce proliferation of multiple configurations and types of borescopes within the Air Force inventory. The AF maintains five standard configurations (as follows) and intends to remove all other borescopes from AF inventory through attrition. Government Commercial Item Descriptions are available for review. 200414811 6mm Video Borescope with working channel and measurement capabilities 200414812 6mm Video Borescope with measurement capabilities 200414813 6mm Video Borescope without measurement capabilities 200414814 4mm Video Borescope with measurement capabilities 200414815 6mm Swing Prism Borescope Borescopes are commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) items. There are approximately 3000 borescopes in the Air Force inventory. The attached chart shows models of borescopes in inventory. The intent of this potential acquisition strategy is a long-term performance based logistics (PBL) contract that decreases costs, improves turn-around-time, addresses obsolescence issues, and increases reliability and support for the warfighter while sustaining or improving existing capabilities. Interested contractors should respond IAW the instructions attached hereto. Responses are due by 4:00 pm EST on Thursday, 20 November 2008 to Randi Williams by email at Randi.Williams@robins.af.mil. An industry day may be held subsequent to this market survey.
