- The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), Field Acquisition Office, Grand Prairie, TX intends to make a single award for the provision of Medical Assistant services for inmates at the Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons, Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) and Federal Prison Camp (FPC) Talladega, Alabama. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 621399 (Size Standard: $7 million). The contractor must have the ability to work with an inmate population from a variety of cultural, regional, racial and ethnic backgrounds. The contractor shall be responsible for, but not limited to: Providing nursing care to include taking and recording patient history, vital signs, making appointments, assisting PA's and physicians in clinical activities; Drawing blood from patients for analysis or other medical purposes; Collecting and processing urinalysis; and other duties that are commercially standard in the market place for a Medical Assistant. The individuals or Contractor's employee providing Medical Assistant services under this contract award must have graduated from an accredited school; be certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (CPR); and have two current years of experience as a Medical Assistant. Correctional experience is desirable, but not required. The quoter must provide proof that their candidate meets all qualifications. All contractors doing business with the Federal Government must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) database under NAICS Code 621399. The website for registration is www.ccr.gov. The contract periods will consist of a 12-month base period and four 12-month option periods for renewal with an estimated maximum of 1560 sessions per year. The schedule will normally consist of thirty (30) one (1) hour sessions per week, Monday through Friday (except Federal holidays), between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., with a thirty (30) minute unpaid lunch period, (if applicable). Each 12-month period will consist of approximately 1560 sessions. The solicitation will be available on/about November 20, 2008 and will be distributed solely through this website. Hard copies of the solicitation will not be available. The website provides downloading instructions to obtain all documents relating to this solicitation. All future information concerning this acquisition, including the solicitation and any subsequent amendments, will be distributed through the website. Interested parties are responsible for monitoring the website to ensure they have the most up-to-date information about the acquisition. The date for receipt of quotations is on/about December 19, 2008; however, this is a projected estimate and quoters should refer to Page 1 of the solicitation (Block #8) for the actual date quotations are due. Faith-Based and Community-Based Organizations can submit offers/bids/quotations equally with other organizations for contracts for which they are eligible. This solicitation is a total small business set-aside. All responsible small business concerns are encouraged to submit a quotation which may be considered. See Note 1.
