Description
This is a notice of intent, not a request for a proposal. A solicitation document will not be issued and proposals will not be requested. National Institute on Drug Abuse, Office of Acquisitions- Neurosciences, Station Support/Simplified Acquisition, on behalf of the National Institute on Aging, intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Gharib, Higgins, Brown & Raza, 1201 Seven Locks Road, Suite 200, Rockville, Maryland 20854, for professional component interpretations of 3T MRI examinations performed at the Harbor Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. The NIA has purchased and will operate a 3T MRI equipment on leased property immediately adjacent to the Harbor Hospital. This equipment is used by NIA investigators for ongoing research. The radiologists will examine and interpret 3T MRI images by close of business the day the scan is performed to determine if an urgent finding is present. If the NIA investigator notes a finding that needs interpretation, the radiologist will provide an over-read. The radiologist will also assist in decisions pertaining to contract injection and contrast dose calculation. The Harbor Hospital which will have the patients for NIA has a current agreement with the Gharib, Higgins, Brown & Raza for clinical over-reads. Period of performance is for 12 months at the Harbor Hospital in Baltimore, MD. The acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition using FAR 12 procedures and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6, Competition Requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Comments to this announcement, referencing synopsis number NOI791692 may be submitted to the NIDA, Station Support/Simplified Acquisition Branch, 31 Center Drive, Bldg 31, Room 1B59, Bethesda, MD 20892-2080, and Attention: Susan A. Nsangou, Contracting Officer.
