Description
The US Navy intends to procure a Power PC (PPC) upgrade for the AN/ALE-47 Programmer, CD-45(V)1/ALE-47, Part Number 179730-0006. The AN/ALE-47 Programmer contains a MIL-STD-1750A Central Processing Unit (CPU), Part Number 5962-89519. Due to the age of the architecture, the 1750A does not provide required processing throughput to meet the U S Navy?s immediate needs. Mission vulnerabilities created by the continued use of the 1750A processor must be immediately reduced. In order to eliminate these mission vulnerabilities the US Navy is planning to replace the 1750A CPU with BAE Systems existing ALE-47 PPC CPU Input/Output (I/O) Circuit Card Assembly (CCA). The selection of this CPU I/O CCA will also eliminate the need for the current CD-45(V)1/ALE-47 Discrete I/O CCA P/N 174255-0006 which currently contains an obsolete part, P/N QL12X16B-0PF100C. A hardware and commercial OFP demonstration is required 30 days after contract award. Military qualified, production hardware along with an Operational Flight Program (OFP) is required within 120 days of contract award to begin US Navy assault aircraft integration. The BAE PPC commercial OFP which removes the 1750A processor limitations will support initial integration testing. The commercial OFP will be modified in parallel with initial integration to incorporate the necessary US Navy assault aircraft functionality. The US Navy plans to procure 800 production units following successful hardware and software integration as well as a complete technical data package. **Note 22** This synopsis is for informational purposes only as the Government intends to award this on a sole source basis.
