- The Military Sealift Command (MSC) intends to issue a solicitation for the operation and maintenance of eleven (11) Maritime Prepositioning Force (MPF) vessels, consisting of five (5) separate ship lots. The ship lots are as follows: Lot One: USNS MARTIN, Lot Two: USNS STOCKHAM, Lot Three: USNS WHEAT, Lot Four: BOBO class (USNS BOBO, USNS WILLIAMS, USNS LUMMUS, & M/V BUTTON, and Lot Five: KOCAK class (SS KOCAK, SS OBREGON, & SS PLESS). MSC anticipates the contract length, will consist of a firm period with four (4) or five (5) option periods. Performance is anticipated to begin on or about 01 October 2009. Once the RFP is issued, interested parties may download a copy of it by going to http://www.msc.navy.mil, under "Contracts," then "Active Request for Proposal (RFP/RFQ) Search. **Lot 1 (USNS MARTIN) will be a small business set aside. **Lot 6 (T-AO Tanker) which was included within the Request for Information (dated July 31, 2008) will no longer be solicited as part of this acquisition. The Government anticipates the T-AO Tanker requirement will be solicited under a separate contract vehicle in the future.
